The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has appealed to candidates to remain calm over the delay in the release of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination original result slips.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin explained that the printing portal has not yet been activated due to ongoing processes, including the completion of foreign examinations and preparations for the mop-up examination.
According to JAMB, the mop-up exam is meant for candidates who were unable to participate in the main UTME through no fault of their own.
“The printing of the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip has not yet been activated. Candidates are kindly urged to be patient as the Board has just concluded the foreign examinations and is also preparing to conduct the mop-up examination for candidates who were unable to sit for the main examination through no fault of theirs,” the statement said.
The board further explained that the UTME is a ranking examination, and the original result slip contains candidates’ national rankings. Because of this, all examination processes must be completed before the slips can be released.
JAMB assured candidates that the portal for printing the original result slips would be activated once all necessary adjustments have been finalised.
“As soon as the necessary adjustments are concluded, the printing portal will be activated. This will be done shortly, and candidates will be informed when to proceed with the printing of their result slips,” Benjamin added.
The examination body also apologised for the delay and appealed to candidates and stakeholders for understanding.
The delay has, however, sparked concerns among candidates, many of whom say they urgently need their result slips for post-UTME screening, admission processing, and change of course or institution applications.
JAMB had earlier provided an SMS result-checking option for candidates using their registered phone numbers.
The development comes shortly after the board announced 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for university admission in 2026.
