University of Ghana Orders Students With CGPA Below 1.00 to Withdraw

Share

The University of Ghana has directed undergraduate students who recorded a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 at the end of the 2025/2026 academic year to withdraw from their programmes.

According to GraphicOnline, the directive was announced in a public notice issued by the university’s Academic Affairs Directorate, citing Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017).

The regulation requires undergraduate students to maintain a minimum CGPA of 1.00 and satisfy their respective school or departmental requirements to qualify for progression to the next academic level.

It also stipulates that students who fail to meet the academic requirements are not eligible for probation.

The university stated in the notice that students whose CGPAs fall below the required threshold after all grades for their registered courses have been released would be considered not to be in good academic standing and must withdraw from their programmes.

“Accordingly, students whose CGPAs fall below 1.00 upon receipt of all grades for their registered courses at the end of the 2025/2026 Academic Year are not in good academic standing and are required to withdraw from their programmes of study,” the notice stated.

Affected students have been instructed to verify their CGPAs through the university’s Management Information System Web and access the Student and Academic Services Portal using their student identification numbers and PINs to select the “Withdrawal Request” option.

The university noted that the relevant schools or departments would initiate the withdrawal process on behalf of students enrolled in certain programmes.

Students seeking further clarification have been advised to contact their respective College Academic Offices.

The institution’s Careers and Counselling Directorate is also available to provide affected students with guidance and support.
