Kano Varsity Debunks Viral ‘Emir Sanusi Has Carry-Over’ Video

Share

Northwest University Kano (NWUK) has distanced itself from a viral video claiming that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended lectures at the university to clear an alleged carry-over.

The university described the claim as false, baseless and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard the video and accompanying reports.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, explained that the viral video actually showed the Emir attending a public lecture organised by the International Humanitarian Law Society at the university.

According to the university, some social media users subsequently attached captions and write-ups claiming that Sanusi had a carry-over and visited the institution to resolve an alleged academic deficiency.

The management said the claims had no connection with the actual event captured in the video.

“The management categorically distances itself from the said video, write-ups, and the claims contained therein. The claim is entirely false, baseless, misleading, and without an iota of fact whatsoever,” the statement said.

The university urged members of its community and the general public to disregard the video, accompanying write-ups and related claims.

It also warned individuals against creating, publishing or circulating what it described as false and defamatory content, stressing the need for responsible use of social media and accurate information sharing.
