Governor says more teachers will be recruited as administration seeks to consolidate gains in human capital development

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to strengthen the state’s education sector and accelerate people-oriented development, saying his administration will sustain investments in human capital and critical infrastructure.
Alia made the commitment during his ongoing Thank-You Tour across the state, where he engaged traditional rulers, religious leaders, political stakeholders, women, youths and other community representatives.
The governor said his administration would build on achievements recorded over the past three years, particularly in the education sector.
More Teachers to Be Recruited
Alia disclosed that the state government plans to recruit additional teachers for both primary and secondary schools to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education.
He noted that the administration had already recruited 9,700 primary school teachers, but said further recruitment would be necessary to meet the state’s educational needs.
According to him, strengthening the teaching workforce remains part of the government’s broader effort to improve human capital development and deliver better services to residents.
Focus on People-Oriented Projects
The governor also assured residents that his administration would continue to prioritise projects and programmes that have a direct impact on the lives of the people.
He said the achievements recorded so far were part of a wider development agenda aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening human capital and promoting sustainable development across Benue.
Alia also called for unity among residents, urging them to put the collective interests of the state above political differences.
He said cooperation among citizens was essential for maintaining peace, stability and development in Benue.
Governor Seeks Federal Support
The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his support for Benue State and called on residents to maintain cooperation with the Federal Government.
He said stronger collaboration between the state and federal governments would help both administrations deliver more development projects and interventions for the people.
Stakeholders Pledge Support
During the tour, Alia met with traditional rulers, religious leaders and political stakeholders in Buruku, Gboko, Tarka and surrounding communities.
The Chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Raymond Zege, received the governor and his delegation and expressed the people’s continued support for his administration.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Foreign Affairs, Alex Adingi, commended the administration’s interventions and called for additional development projects.
At Gboko, the Chairman of Tarka Local Government, Raphael Yenge, also praised projects executed across Gboko and Tarka and expressed support for the governor’s administration.
Other stakeholders, including women and youth leaders, traditional rulers and political representatives, also pledged their support and called for further development interventions.
Former Governor Gabriel Suswam, speaking to the people of Jemgbagh, urged residents to avoid political distractions and support Alia’s administration.
The engagements brought together government officials, traditional and religious leaders, women and youth representatives, as well as other community stakeholders.
