The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has extended the qualifying examination for its ongoing teachers’ recruitment exercise from two days to three days following the high number of eligible applicants.
The examination, initially scheduled for Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026, will now commence on Thursday, August 13, and end on Saturday, August 15.
The Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Michael Omolayo, disclosed the adjustment in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday.
According to Omolayo, the additional examination day was introduced to enable the board to efficiently accommodate the large number of applicants who successfully completed the recruitment process.
“The additional day is to enable the Board to efficiently conduct the examination for the large number of eligible applicants who successfully completed the application process,” he said.
The recruitment exercise followed the approval of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for the employment of teachers into public primary schools across the state.
Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, said the recruitment was part of the administration’s efforts to reposition basic education and improve service delivery.
Akinwumi explained that the recruitment would focus strictly on filling vacancies created by the retirement of teachers over the past few years.
He said the exercise was designed to address staffing gaps in public primary schools and ensure that schools have adequate numbers of teachers.
Omolayo explained that the change in the examination schedule became necessary because of the volume of applications received.
He said applicants who successfully completed their applications would receive notifications containing their examination dates and times through their registered email addresses.
The Permanent Secretary stated that the Computer-Based Test (CBT) would take place at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
Shortlisted candidates are required to appear at the venue on their assigned dates and times and bring printed copies of their application forms for verification.
Omolayo warned that only candidates who received official invitations would be allowed into the examination halls.
He also stated that mobile phones and other electronic devices would not be permitted inside the examination premises.
Candidates were advised to arrive only at their designated times, as loitering around the examination centre would not be allowed.
The Permanent Secretary urged all applicants to carefully follow the examination schedule and instructions contained in their notification emails.
