The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, in his ongoing alleged cybercrime case.
Delivering the ruling on Tuesday, Justice Mohammed Umar approved bail in the sum of ₦200 million and directed Sowore to provide two qualified sureties.
According to the court, one surety must be a traditional ruler from Sowore’s community, while the second must own landed property within Abuja.
Justice Umar further ordered the prosecution to verify the sureties before the bail conditions can be fulfilled.
As part of the bail terms, the court directed Sowore to surrender his international passport to the Deputy Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court. The travel document will remain in the court’s custody until the conclusion of the trial.
