MOUAU Debunks Hoodlum Invasion Rumour, Assures Students of Tight Security

Share

The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that suspected hoodlums are planning to invade the university campus.

The institution described the report as false, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary fear among students, staff, parents, and members of the university community.

In a statement issued on Friday through the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Anyaso Anyaso, the university said it had thoroughly investigated the claim in collaboration with relevant security agencies and found no credible evidence to support the alleged threat.

According to the statement, the university’s security unit worked closely with law enforcement authorities to verify the information and confirmed that there was no indication of any planned attack or invasion of the campus.

The management reiterated that the safety and welfare of students, staff, and visitors remain its highest priority. It added that security personnel have continued to maintain close cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, while additional patrols have been deployed to strengthen campus security.

MOUAU also cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified information on social media, warning that such actions could trigger unnecessary panic and tension.

The university urged students and staff to remain calm, disregard the rumour, and continue with their academic and official activities without fear.
