On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Bola Tinubu approved a series of appointments and reappointments to the governing boards of key agencies under the Federal Ministry of Education, signaling a renewed push to strengthen institutional performance across the sector.
At the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu, a retired academic and former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, was appointed Chairman. Meanwhile, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi will continue in his role as Registrar/Chief Executive Officer.
For the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Babatunde Salako, former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, has been named Chairman. Prof. Idris M. Bugaje was also reappointed as Executive Secretary for a final term.
At Federal Polytechnic N’yak-Shendam, Engr. Dr. Bongfa Binfa has been appointed Rector for a five-year tenure.
Similarly, at the National Library of Nigeria, Prof. Chinwe Veronica Anunobi has had her tenure renewed as Director/CEO, where she is expected to continue ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
These strategic appointments are aimed at boosting efficiency, leadership stability, and overall performance within Nigeria’s education sector.
