Fire Outbreak Forces Temporary Shutdown of Lagos Airport Airfield

Share

Operations at the Lagos airfield were briefly suspended on Monday after a fire incident broke out at the international wing (Old Terminal) of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Airport authorities immediately shut down the airfield to enable emergency responders to contain the fire and ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and airport infrastructure.

In a statement, Air Peace notified passengers and the general public that the temporary closure had disrupted flight operations across its network.

“As a result, inbound and outbound flights are currently experiencing delays pending the reopening of the airfield and restoration of normal operations,” the airline stated.

Air Peace added that it is working closely with airport authorities while closely monitoring the situation. The airline emphasized that passenger safety and operational integrity remain its top priorities.

The airline also expressed sympathy to travelers affected by the disruption and assured them that further updates would be provided as soon as confirmed information becomes available.

Airport management authorities earlier confirmed that no casualties were recorded in connection with the fire outbreak.
