The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) candidates offered admission into Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria.
The announcement was made by the Federal Ministry of Education on Monday, following the release of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) results in July.
Parents and guardians can now check the admission status of their children and wards through the Federal Ministry of Education’s FME Posting Portal and print their admission slips ahead of the next stage of the admission process.
How the admission was determined
The placement exercise was conducted using three approved criteria:
- 60 per cent – Merit
- 30 per cent – Equality of States
- 10 per cent – Exigency
Successful candidates are required to print their admission slips and report to the Federal Unity College indicated on their slips for confirmation and completion of the admission process.
Over 56,000 candidates sat for 2026 NCEE
The admission follows the 2026 NCEE, which recorded 60,357 registered candidates, while 56,950 candidates eventually sat for the examination across Nigeria, the Federal Capital Territory, and designated centres in Benin and Togo.
According to the government, 10 candidates recorded the highest score of 202 marks out of 210, while 82 candidates recorded the lowest score of one mark.
Federal Unity College admission now automated
The latest admission exercise is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing automation of placement into Federal Unity Colleges.
The Ministry of Education had announced in 2025 that admissions into the colleges would be fully automated, with placements carried out within the approved capacity of each school.
The reform is aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and capacity management, while also reducing overcrowding in the colleges.
Federal Unity Colleges include Federal Government Colleges, Federal Government Girls’ Colleges, Federal Science Colleges and Federal Science and Technical Colleges across the country.
What parents and candidates should do
Parents and guardians of candidates who participated in the 2026 NCEE are advised to:
- Check the candidate’s admission status through the FME Posting Portal.
- Print the admission slip if admission has been offered.
- Confirm the assigned Federal Unity College.
- Report to the school as instructed on the admission slip.
- Complete all required documentation and admission procedures within the stipulated period.
Education Minister, Maruf Tunji Alausa, congratulated successful candidates and urged them to approach their secondary education with discipline, diligence and commitment to academic excellence.
Parents are therefore advised to check their children’s placement promptly and follow the instructions contained on the admission slip.
