The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination into technical colleges across Nigeria.
The board announced that registration, which was initially expected to close earlier, will now end on May 31, 2026. It also confirmed that the examination date has been shifted from June 6 to June 13, 2026.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Benin City by NABTEB’s Assistant Director of Media and Protocol, Mr. Uchechukwu Olisah.
According to the statement, the extension was approved by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Aminu Mohammed.
Olisah explained that the approval was officially communicated through an internal memo signed by the Director of Examinations Administration, Ms. Chigoziem Metu.
“With this extension, the registration for the National Common Entrance Examination will close on Sunday, May 31, while the examination earlier scheduled for Saturday, June 6, will now hold on Saturday, June 13,” the statement noted.
The board stated that the decision followed several requests from candidates seeking additional time to complete their registration process.
NABTEB urged prospective candidates to use the extension period to finalize all registration requirements before the new deadline.
The registrar also encouraged students interested in technical and entrepreneurial education to participate in NABTEB examinations and pursue admission into technical colleges nationwide.
The examination serves as the entry requirement for admission into technical colleges across Nigeria.
