French Education Ministry Hit by Cyberattack, Student Data Exposed

Share

The France Education Ministry has confirmed that it was targeted in a cyberattack that led to the leak of students’ personal information.

According to officials from the Ministry of National Education (France), the breach took place after attackers successfully impersonated the account of an authorized staff member at the end of 2025. This allowed them unauthorized access to a student account management system linked to EduConnect, as reported by News.Az citing Anadolu.

The compromised service has since been taken offline while investigations continue to determine the full extent of the data exposure.

Authorities stated that they have reset access credentials for inactive accounts and strengthened security protocols across the system in response to the incident.

Officials also reassured that accounts already actively in use were not affected by the breach.

This cyberattack comes just a month after a separate data leak within the Education Ministry, which impacted approximately 243,000 employees, most of them teachers.
