The event, hosted at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa, Ikeja, featured practical sessions on waste sorting, use of fire extinguishers, and emergency response procedures.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Ali-Balogun, said the initiative aims to empower students as safety ambassadors who promote environmental awareness and safety practices in their schools and communities. He commended students for taking proactive steps, noting that simple habits—such as switching off electrical appliances—can help protect lives and property.

Permanent Secretary Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite подчеркed the importance of a clean and safe school environment for effective learning, warning that improper waste disposal can cause health risks and environmental damage. Officials from the Lagos Waste Management Authority and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services delivered presentations on recycling, the circular economy, and fire prevention strategies, reinforcing the need for collective action toward a safer, more sustainable future.
