2026 UTME/DE: JAMB Advises Early Profile Creation Ahead of Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised candidates intending to sit for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and apply through Direct Entry (DE) to commence their profile creation early.

In its weekly bulletin released on Monday, the Board urged prospective candidates to confirm the accuracy of their National Identification Number (NIN) details before creating their profiles, cautioning that errors could lead to unnecessary challenges during registration and the examination process.

JAMB emphasised the need for timely action, noting that candidates who delay profile creation may encounter last-minute difficulties. According to the Board, candidates who are yet to create their profiles should do so promptly to ensure a smooth registration experience.

“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) wishes to inform all candidates desirous of registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) to proceed with the creation of their JAMB profiles if they have not already done so. Candidates are advised to ensure that their NIN details are correctly captured before initiating the process,” the statement read.

The Board added that registration for the 2026 UTME and DE could commence at any time, encouraging candidates to prepare in advance by ensuring their personal information is accurate and consistent across all official records.

JAMB also highlighted that opportunities for correcting personal data are limited, warning candidates to take full responsibility for the accuracy of their details from the outset, as requests for amendments may not always be granted.

Reassuring candidates and parents, the Board noted that the cost of UTME and DE application forms has remained unchanged for the past nine years. It added that fees for the 2026 registration exercise are unlikely to increase unless it becomes absolutely necessary to maintain the quality and integrity of the examinations.

According to JAMB, this policy aligns with the government’s human-centred approach and reflects sensitivity to the current economic challenges faced by Nigerian familie
