The Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State has sponsored 18 indigenes on scholarship to study at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, over the past three years.
The council chairman, Rasaq Fadiran, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Ibadan on Thursday, saying the initiative was designed to expand access to higher education and develop skilled professionals who could contribute to the growth of the community and the state.
Fadiran said the beneficiaries were selected through a thorough screening process conducted by the institution and were pursuing courses in medicine, engineering, technology and basic digital skills.
He explained that the scholarship scheme had provided timely support for academically outstanding students seeking educational opportunities in medical and technology-related fields.
“Since I became the Chairman of Iseyin Local Government three years ago, we have sponsored 18 brilliant students who are indigenes of the community to acquire education that will impact their lives, their community and the state positively,” he said.
The chairman attributed the success of the initiative to the support of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, which he said provided the platform, resources and encouragement needed to sustain the programme.
He added that the scholarship scheme was contributing to Iseyin’s educational development and strengthening the community’s capacity to produce skilled graduates.
Meanwhile, six beneficiaries of the programme for 2026 reportedly resumed academic activities on Monday after completing orientation programmes organised by the management of Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan.
