The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2026 Mop-Up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), clearing the way for the next phase of admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, candidates who sat for the mop-up examination can now check their results through the board’s official result-checking platforms.
According to JAMB, result slips required for admission screening and processing will be available for printing before the end of the week.
Admission Ranking Begins
The board explained that the release of the mop-up results marks the final stage of the 2026 UTME exercise and signals the commencement of candidate ranking for admission purposes.
“Candidates who participated in the examination can check their results through the Board’s established result-checking channels. Following the successful conclusion of the mop-up exercise and the release of the results, the Board will commence the ranking of candidates,” the statement noted.
JAMB added that the printing of official result slips for admission purposes is expected to begin before the weekend.
Why the Mop-Up Exam Was Conducted
The mop-up examination took place on June 13, 2026, for candidates who were unable to participate in the main UTME due to various challenges.
The 2026 UTME was conducted between April 16 and April 23 across approximately 966 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. However, technical issues experienced at some centres prevented certain candidates from taking the examination, prompting JAMB to organize the mop-up test.
The board had earlier stated that the mop-up examination would be the final opportunity for eligible candidates to sit for the 2026 UTME, stressing that no additional examinations would be conducted afterward.
JAMB Appreciates Stakeholders
JAMB expressed gratitude to candidates, parents, schools, and other stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the examination process.
“JAMB appreciates the patience, understanding, and cooperation of all candidates and stakeholders throughout the conduct of the 2026 UTME and the subsequent mop-up exercise,” the board stated.
What Comes Next for Candidates?
With the release of the mop-up results, attention now shifts to admission considerations by universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
The candidate ranking process will help institutions determine admission eligibility based on UTME performance and programme requirements.
JAMB has advised candidates to regularly monitor its official communication channels for updates on admission procedures, result printing, and other important announcements.
