FG, EFCC Deepen Partnership to Boost Education Through Recovered Assets

Share

The Federal Government has reinforced its collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to channel recovered proceeds of crime into strengthening Nigeria’s education sector.

This commitment was reaffirmed during the formal handover of recovered assets by the EFCC to the Federal Ministry of Education for distribution to educational institutions across the country.

Receiving the assets, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the initiative reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to advancing education, developing human capital and delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the minister, the recovered assets will be redirected toward improving learning facilities, expanding access to quality education and enhancing students’ welfare in schools nationwide.

Dr. Alausa praised the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, for ensuring that assets recovered from financial crimes are put to productive public use.

He noted that previous recoveries had supported the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia and also provided seed funding for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, helping to expand educational opportunities for Nigerian students.

As part of the latest handover, the EFCC transferred 501 double-decker bed frames, 939 mattresses and 12 wooden beds with mattresses recovered during Operation Eagle Flush.

The Federal Ministry of Education said the items would be distributed transparently to schools across the country to improve educational infrastructure and create a more conducive learning environment for students.
