MAPOLY Cracks Down on Admission Fraud, Expels 365 HND Students Over Fake Credentials

Share

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has expelled 365 students from its Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes after uncovering widespread admission fraud involving falsified academic records.

The institution disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday by its Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Yemi Ajibola.

According to Ajibola, investigations revealed that the affected students secured admission by presenting fake National Diploma (ND) results and forged academic transcripts obtained from various institutions.

He explained that the decision followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on credentials submitted during admission and registration processes. The exercise, he said, was aimed at safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the institution’s academic system.

The polytechnic reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward fraud, forgery, and other forms of academic misconduct, stressing that anyone found guilty of such offences would face appropriate sanctions.

A breakdown of the affected students shows that the School of Communication and Information Technology recorded the highest number of expulsions with 156 students. The School of Business and Management Studies followed with 117 students, while the School of Science and Technology had 54 affected students. The School of Engineering accounted for 36 expulsions, while two students were expelled from the School of Environmental Studies.

MAPOLY Rector, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against attempting to gain admission with forged or falsified credentials, emphasizing that the institution remains committed to maintaining high academic standards.

He noted that the mass expulsion demonstrates the polytechnic’s resolve to uphold transparency, professionalism, and credibility in its admission processes and academic programmes.
