The Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Dr. Paul Fashagba, has announced that graduates of the institution from 2016 to date can now begin collecting their long-awaited certificates starting from May 18, 2026.
Dr. Fashagba made this known in Lokoja on Friday while outlining efforts by the institution’s new management to resolve the long-standing certificate backlog that has affected thousands of alumni over the years.
He explained that the delay in certificate issuance had persisted for more than a decade, creating significant challenges for graduates in securing employment and pursuing further studies.
According to him, upon assuming office, the current management prioritised addressing the issue by identifying the underlying causes and restoring credibility to the institution’s academic records system.
He said the management held consultations with relevant regulatory bodies, including the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), to ensure that all processes adhered strictly to approved academic and administrative standards.
Investigations, he revealed, showed that more than 4,000 graduates had not received their certificates over the years due to accumulated administrative bottlenecks.
“To resolve this, a dedicated committee was established to oversee the production and authentication of the outstanding certificates, ensuring full compliance with due process,” he said.
Dr. Fashagba further disclosed that all affected certificates have now been produced, verified, and duly signed, making them ready for collection by the concerned graduates.
He added that measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence of such delays, assuring that future graduates will receive their certificates promptly upon completion of their programmes.
The Provost urged all affected alumni to take advantage of the opportunity and collect their certificates without further delay, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery.
