Share

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 34 undergraduate programmes for the newly established Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe (FUSTECH), in Lagos State, paving the way for the institution to commence its inaugural admission process.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 23, 2026, following a resource verification exercise by panels of experts who assessed the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.

According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Monday, the programmes will be offered on a full-time basis at the university’s take-off campuses, beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session.

NUC Approves 1,700 Admission Slots

The commission approved an admission quota of 50 students per programme, bringing the total approved capacity to 1,700 students across the 34 programmes.

The NUC clarified that the approval covers only full-time programmes. The university would need to submit a separate request for consideration before introducing part-time programmes.

Following the approval, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kazeem Adeola Oshikoya, expressed the institution’s readiness to begin its first admission exercise.

University Operating Temporarily at LASU Epe Campus

FUSTECH currently shares some facilities and infrastructure at the Epe campus of Lagos State University (LASU).

LASU management explained in August that the arrangement was an interim measure intended to support the smooth take-off of the new federal university through institutional collaboration.

The arrangement is expected to continue temporarily until FUSTECH relocates to its permanent site.

Established in 2025

Established in November 2025, the Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe, is among Nigeria’s newly established federal universities.

With the approval of its 34 undergraduate programmes, prospective students will be looking out for official admission announcements, including application procedures, eligibility requirements and other details for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Prospective applicants are advised to follow official university and JAMB announcements for confirmed admission information.
