In a strategic move to democratize quality education, the Anambra State government has launched a massive distribution of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) targeted at primary and junior secondary schools.
The initiative, flagged off at the ASUBEB premises in Awka, underscores Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s commitment to ensuring that a child’s socio-economic background does not dictate their academic potential.
Leveling the Playing Field
Honourable Anayo Okpalaeke, Chairman of the House Committee on Education, emphasized that the administration’s policies are designed to reach the “poorest of the poor.” By providing free, high-quality resources, the state aims to bridge the gap between children of the wealthy and those from low-income households.
“The governor’s vision is to ensure that children of the poor and the rich attain at least the same level of basic education in the state,” Okpalaeke stated.
By the Numbers: The Distribution Breakdown
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), in partnership with the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), released a significant cache of supplies to empower both teachers and students:

Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, Chairman of ASUBEB, noted that these materials are more than just supplies; they are tools for “lifelong success.” She urged school administrators to ensure the items are utilized effectively to enhance classroom delivery.
Similarly, UBEC representatives called on all residents—regardless of ethnic or religious affiliation to support the current administration’s efforts to modernize the state’s educational infrastructure.
